Amazon’s Project Zero: NO MORE FAKE PRODUCTS ON AMAZON

Amazon’s Project ZeroMost of us have received counterfeit consumer goods after shipping from e-commerce websites. If not, then we all have read or heard people complaining about the same. Do you know the reason behind it? Some companies make duplicate copies of the branded items and consumer goods and sell them on the same platform. Amazon users buy the product from a trusted brand but receive the duplicate or what we call counterfeit products. After resolving such issues time and again, the Delhi High Court had summoned the largest e-commerce platform, Amazon. The U.S. based company has therefore announced to roll out its project zero in India as well. This project was already in effect at the global level since February 2019.
What is the aim behind Project Zero?

The aim of Project Zero is to reduce the number of counterfeit products to Zero.
The company had rolled out Project Zero to make sure that customers receive the original and authentic goods for which they have paid the money. The plan will help the customers as they will get the original products, and there would not need to worry about product quality.

What is Amazon’s Project Zero?

After rolling out Project Zero, the e-commerce website would provide additional tools and mechanisms to the original brands, and they could directly identify, block or remove the counterfeit products from the website.
“With this launch, we’re excited to see many more brands in India, from small and emerging entrepreneurs to large multi-national brands, partner with us to drive counterfeits to zero and deliver a great shopping experience for our customers.” Amazon’s vice president Dharmesh M Mehta said.
How does Amazon’s Project Zero Work?
According to Amazon, the Project Zero offers three sets of tools including the automated protections, self-service counterfeit removal, and product serialization.
In Automated Protections, brands would have to provide their logo, trademark, and other data while posting their goods on the website. These details will help Amazon to identify genuine products while scanning fake products.
The tools for self-service counterfeit, help the individual brands to identify and remove fake products with their name. The modifications would automatically be saved to Amazon’s history and would help the company to prevent such listings in future.
In the product serialization section, the brands would have to provide a unique code or a serial number of every product. The serialization helps Amazon to scan and confirm if the products listed there are authentic.
