The History of Sabarimala Case

The issue started when some activists challenged the old traditions that women after mensuration could not enter the premise of Sabarimala temple. They raised this problem in Apex court and mentioned that it violates the fundamental right given to women. According to the law, no one can stop women from entering into religious places.
However, the priests of Sabarimala did not allow any women after puberty to worship in this temple. The Sabarimala case first went to Kerala High Court, which upheld the traditions and ruled that the priest of the temple had the authority to decide whether the presence of women disturbs the rituals.
The women activists then took it to Supreme Court, and the five bench jury led by RanjanGogoi announced that the decision is pending for now, and a bench of seven judges will announce the final verdict on November 19, 2019.
After that, the women activists took this case to the Apex Court that announced their verdict in women’s support because women have the right to equality, and they also can enter and worship in the Sabarimala Temple. The court provided extra security to the women and asked the priest to open the door for everyone.
This decision resulted in numerous protests from the temple authority because the deity was celibate, and the entrance of women was like disturbing the god. The Supreme Court heard both sides and maintained that the problem is common in many other places. Therefore, let the case pending till November 19.
