Food Sources Used For Sprout Food
Wheat, moong, moth, soybean, groundnut, maize, gram, alfalfa, sunflower seeds and other grains, pulses, seeds, etc.
Preparation of Sprout Food
- Take the desired dry food grain, pulses, seed, etc. and wash it well.
- Then soak it in a bowl of water, use lukewarm water in winters.
- After 12 hours soaking, drain the water and keep the grains in cloth so that they get air and moisture and keep sprinkling water many times on it during summers to keep them damp.
- One can also use sprout containers if doesn’t want to use cloth.
- Within 12 to 30 hours according to the potential of different food grains germination will start.
- When the sprout is ready to wash and use.
- In this process, some seeds which are not sprouted should be removed.
Process of Eating Sprout Food
- It is best to eat sprouted food raw, uncooked and without salt.
- If the sprouts are of single grains like- Wheat, Maize, Jowar, Bajra, etc. then one can mix with sweet food like- dates, raisins, black raisins, honey, etc. and fruits can be taken.
- Grains that can be split into two like gram, moth, peas, groundnuts, soybean, etc. can be eaten with tomato, carrot, cucumber, vegetable marrow, capsicum, green leaves (spinach, mint, coriander, etc. and other salads and lemon juice.
- This mixture is very tasty and healthy.
- For infants, children and old people, one can grind the sprout or the mixture to paste and then slowly make them lick it.
- The sprouts should be eaten raw only, because on cooking its nutritive value and goodness decrease.
Note:
- Wheat and sunflower sprout’s size is as big as the seed.
- Pulses sprout is double the size of the seed.
- Alfalfa sprouts are best at the length of the radicle size 1-3 cm.
There is no comparison of Sprouts with any other food item.
