THE HONEST WEDDING CARD THAT WENT VIRAL
The honest wedding card shared
by a comedian has gone viral in no time. Do you know why? Let us have a look at
the card and try to figure out what was so special about it that it has won
netizens love and appreciation.
So, the wedding invitation
starts with the central idea of distributing wedding cards in high society.
“Humne Kitna kharcha kiya, just look at this extravagant wedding card, Ambani
se kamna hi nhai hum! The very first line of the card reveals that selecting
the most expensive wedding card is essential if someone desires to show off.
Comedian Akshar Pathak has very well presented the hypocrisy of Indian society in this parody. In the next line, he has introduced the groom as “Sharma Ji Ka Ladka.” The main idea is to present that the identity of the groom is not acknowledged in marriage alliances, but he is only preferred according to the status and wealth acquired by his father, which he will inherit.
Typically, the wedding cards introduce the groom’s family in the next line, this is a parodic but honest wedding card mentioned, “Yaha Bhi Tumse Aage Rahenge.” It is to present the patriarchal nature of society where men are always introduced before women and women are supposed to follow the footstep of their men.
So, the next line finally introduces the bride as “Sharma Ji Ki ladki.”

Akshar Pathak has next revealed the wedding date and mentioned that thousands of weddings would be taking place on the same day and guests should be prepared for the traffic jam. Not even a single section of the card lacks humour. Imagine the venue section also has a hilarious line. Pathak mentioned that nearly 4-5 weddings would take place at the same venue, and the guests might enter into the wrong place.
In the special request section, he has requested the guests to offer cash as gifts, and not the juicer mixer grinder. Most people gift mixer grinders and the couple gets nearly 18-20 of them. So, Pathak has requested his guest to give cash.
It is a three pages card that has a page for the reception and another for the map, which he says is very confusing and people should not depend on it. He wrote, AAP IS MAP KE BHAROSE MAT REHNA, RASTE MAIN PUCH LENA KISI SE.”
This post by Pathak went viral because everyone who saw it could relate, and people have even suggested more lines and asked Akshar to add them to the honest wedding card.
