ICC U-19 World Cup Final: Bangladesh’s Win over India
It was quite surprising to know
that India has lost the World Cup Final which was held on Sunday (09.02.2020).
Most recently India U-19 team had won over Bangladesh in the 2019 Asia Cup
final.
The competition between the
Indian boys’ U-19 team and Bangladesh had always remained one-sided, since they
first met in 2000 in the biennial tournament.
Both the teams have faced each
other 23 times with the Indian colts dominating their counterparts on 18
occasions, while the Bangladesh team had won three times. Two of the matches
lead to draw.
Their match on Sunday was the
fourth meeting in the World Cup, where India had a 3-1 head-to-head advantage.
Most recent latest win with
Bangladesh’s was in 2019 while the U-19 team of Indian boys beat them in the
final of the 2019 Asia Cup in September 2019.
➭ So, this
time it was hard to believe if India could lose the world cup.
Anyhow, it will take some time
for us to believe everything that happened in that match. Here are some
of the glimpses of the match:
Winning captain, Akbar Ali: When asked about their
success, it was told by him that, it was all about the hard work they had done
over the last two years. Though, he had also revealed that he cannot thank the
staff enough for their win. For this all the bowlers got emotional, and he
continued saying that some of the things should not have happened. However,
finally, he said that this was the start of something big for them.
India captain Priyam Garg: When the same thing was asked
about their defeat, it was told by him that it was truly a bad day for them,
but our boys fought really well. The entire team had made it difficult for them
to reach up to the target, and he would like to thank his team for that. Toss
was a big factor. This is known to be sportsmanship, which is delivered by the
Indian Captain.
Player of the tournament:
Yashasvi Jaiswal! Made 400 runs in the
tournament (the most by any player), with four half centuries and a century.
“Praise pouring in for Bangladesh. This was quite the day in
their history!”
