Updates of Sports News
It is a bad news for football
lovers. Recently English champions Manchester City has been banned from the
Champions League in 2020/21 and 2021/22 by the UEFA for “serious violation” of
financial regulations.
Cricket Champions League 2020,
has also fined the English Premier League champions for 30 million euros ($33
million) by UEFA for violating the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.
UEFA’S Club Financial Control
Body (CFCB) has also found them guilty for spreading fake news of inflating
sponsorship revenues which was found during submitting evidence for the FFP
fulfilment process. The investigation came into progress after a series of
emails and documents were published by German magazine Der Spiegel in November
2018.
UEFA on breach had released a
statement that: “After the completion process of hearing held on 22 January
2020 the Adjudicatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB),
chaired by José da Cunha Rodrigues, has today notified Manchester City Football Club of
the final decision on the case which was referred by the CFCB Chief
Investigator.”
After the investigation of all
the evidences, “The Adjudicatory Chamber has found that Manchester City
Football Club committed serious breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and
Financial Fair Play Regulations by overemphasizing its sponsorship revenue in its
accounts and in the break-even information submitted to UEFA between 2012 and
2016.”

The Adjudicatory Chamber has
also found that in the violation of the rules and regulations of UEFA, the
English Premier League champions had also found to be not supporting in the
investigation of this case by the CFCB.”
It was said that the
Adjudicatory Chamber has also blamed the City for indisciplinary measures and
directed that the Manchester shall be debarred from participation in UEFA club
competitions in the next two seasons (i.e. the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons) and
have to pay a fine of €30m.”
This decision of the
Adjudicatory Chamber was announced to the Manchester club after the appeal went
through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). If, Manchester City Football
Club exercises that right the full reasoned decision of the Adjudicatory
Chamber will not be published prior to publication of the final award by the
CAS”
Manchester City will be
appealing the sanction with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. They said that
they were “disappointed by this decision but not surprised” by the outcome of a
“prejudicial process” and now would be seeking an “unbiased verdict”.
The club has officially
complained to the UEFA disciplinary body for the complaint which was confirmed
by a CAS ruling. The City did not find the decision unbiased and said there was
a faulty and relentlessly leaked UEFA process.
Simply one can say, this is a
case initiated by UEFA, impeached by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this
unfavourable process, the club will pursue an unbiased judgment as quickly as
possible and will commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport
at the earliest opportunity.
