Kalki Koechlin, gave birth to
her daughter Soppho on Friday (07.02.2020), this news was taken to social media
to thank the woman who helped her during the childbirth. Sharing a picture of
her during the labour, the actress enclosed a heartfelt note for her doula.
Water Birth Technique
The actress had opted for the
water birth technique to give birth to her first child. Throughout her
pregnancy, a trained pregnancy professional helped Kalki to go through her
tough journey. She thanked doula (a woman who assists a pregnant woman during
childbirth) for her consistent help.
The actress wrote about how her
doula that she was a great support system for her. Women need a great help
during the process of pregnancy, labour and post care. She said that earlier
she was not aware about the function of a doula until she got pregnant. No
matter how much one reads up, prepare or ask the doctor, there are challenges
in childbirth that one can only know from experience and practice.
She wrote further that doula
supports in many activities right from conceiving to birth of a child like- provides
massages, breathing techniques, excercises during active labour, other support
like hypnobirthing, a birth plan for the hospital, your first bonding with your
baby, breastfeeding and so many other essentials which she believes that it is
very necessary when one is a first time mum, it gives a feeling as if it is the
first day at a new school all over again!”
Kalki called the labour pain,
the toughest part of his pregnancy, and without Sanam’s strong hands and steady
voice guiding me through the breathing she is not sure if she would’ve been
able to bear all these things.

Kalki also announced the birth
of Soppho in an Instagram post. Sharing a photo of
the newborn’s footprint, the actress opened her heart out with a long note. She
wrote, “Please welcome Sappho. Born 07/02/20. She had just spent 9 months
wrapped up like a momos in my uterus. Let’s give her some space. Thank you for
all the good wishes and positive energy pouring in…”
In her second post, Kalki
shared photos of herself with Soppho, Guy Hershberg and the team of doctor and
nurses who helped the couple during the childbirth. Soppho is Kalki’s
first child with boyfriend Guy Hershberg.
